Salt Water Fishing Tournament
2008 Saltwater Fishing Tournament, Co-Sponsored by the White Anchor Tackle Shop, to be held August 9th and 10th.
The Fourth Annual BRF&GA/White Anchor Tackle Shop Saltwater Fishing Tournament will be held Saturday and Sunday, August 9th and 10th, 2008. A $300 cash prize will be awarded for the largest striped bass and bluefish respectively, with $150 and $75 going for second and third place in both categories. Kids (12 and under) can fish the Junior Division and go for mackerel and harbor pollock, and compete for cash prizes of $50, $25 and $10.
All Maine saltwater sport fishing regulations apply. Weigh ins will be held at the Boothbay Lobster Wharf (formerly Lobstermen’s Co-Op) on the east side of the harbor from 5 pm to 7 pm both days. Fish will be judged by overall length, and in the case of a tie, the first fish entered at the measuring table will be declared the winner.
Area businesses are expected to donate prizes as they have so generously done in the past, which will likely include dinner gift certificates, boat trips, savings bonds, merchandise, and cash. Some of these prizes will be awarded to the winners along with the cash prizes, others will be awarded as door prizes to those who enter the tournament.
Entry fee is $20 for adults. Kids fishing the Junior Division can enter free of charge if accompanied by an adult holding a valid entry ticket. (Adults may sponsor more than one child).
