The Association sponsored its first Saltwater Fishing Tournament in 2005, which has now become an annual event. Held during a weekend in August, the tournament offers cash prizes of $500 for the largest striped bass and bluefish caught, with $150 and $75 going to second and third places respectively.
It also includes a Junior Division (12 year of age and under), with cash prizes for the three largest mackerel and pollock caught. A number of area businesses have donated money, merchandise, and gift certificates to be given away as door prizes, which have helped boost participation and for which the club is very appreciative.
In 2006 and 2007 the tournament was co-sponsored by the White Anchor Tackle Shop, a partnership we hope to continue.
